Bad Ossendorf - Fotoprojekt von Igor Chepikov
Das Projekt „Bad Ossendorf “ begann im Herbst des Jahres 2005 mit einem Brief an die JVA KÖLN Ossendorf.
Wie auch in allen seinen anderen Projekten interessiert den Fotografen das Extreme sichtbar zu machen.
Der Fotograf besuchte einmal wöchentlich ein halbes Jahr lang das Gefängnis. Es stand nur ein Raum für die Aufnahmen zur Disposition, was zur Folge hatte, das alle Frauen nur an dem selben Ort fotografiert werden konnten.Im Kopf des Fotografen kreiste die Frage, welche Spuren hinterlässt die Zeit „Hinter Gittern“ in den Gesichtern der Insassinnen.
Die Frauen im Gefängnis haben parallele Welten gelebt, die andere Menschen nur aus der Fiktion kennen.
Gibt es Spuren die nicht nur in den Seelen der Frauen gezeichnet sind? Welche Gedanken machen sie sich über ihre weibliche Schönheit? Hat Schönheit für sie in der männerlosen Welt des Gefängnisses eine größere Bedeutung?
Treibt der Zorn des Eingesperrtseins die Frage nach der eigenen Schönheit in den Hintergrund oder wird Schönheit für die Frauen sogar das Wichtigste, weil die „Schönste zu sein“ im Gefängnis von sehr großer Bedeutung ist.
Nach einigen Shootings zeigte er den Frauen Kontaktabzüge seiner Arbeit. Das Ansehen des eignen Abbildes berührte viele der Frauen sehr, eine weinte.
Die Fotos sind ein festgehaltenes Spiegelbild. Alle waren erstaunt, was mit ihrem Abbild passiert, wenn es durch die Augen eines Fremden gesehen wird. Einige entdeckten den Wert der eignen Schönheit wieder neu,
manche stellten ihre Position zur Schönheit in Frage, sie bringt in der grauen Zeit der Gefangensein das Selbstwertgefühl zum klingen, und wenn es, wie bei manchen, nur für die Zeit während der Aufnahme der Fotos war.
Die Frage ob Schönheit für die Frauen selbst wichtig ist, oder sie sich für andere schön machen,
blieb auch nach dem Shootings für den Fotografen ein Geheimnis, das letztendlich ein Licht und ein Schatten hat.
In „ Bad Ossendorf “ wie die Arbeit von dem Künstler betitelt wird, ist Schönheit für die die Frauen ein großes Thema, entweder im totalen Ignorieren + Verneinen von ihr , oder sie noch mehr in den Vordergrund zu stellen.
„Hinter Gittern“ polarisiert durch die extreme Situation auch auf die Frage „ Bin ich schön? “
Die 56 Portraits der Frauen geben ein großes Spektrum der unterschiedlichen Ideen der Frauen zur Schönheit wieder…

The initiation of the project “ Bad Ossendorf” in the autumn of the year 2005 gave a letter
directed to the penitentiary of Cologne Ossendorf.
The photographer focuses on the extreme, as all his projects are a challenge and a attraction.
The penitentiary was called upon once a week by the photographer. Throughout this period of
the project, the photographer was allocated solely, the same room, so that all shootings took
place there.
The photographer`s concern was to catch sight of a hint, something left in the faces of women
enduring the consequences of “behind bars”.
The inmates photographed, lived an existence in parallel of the real world far away from what
other people may only imagine in fiction. Was there something formative in their faces tangible to the photographer which penetrated not only their souls, but their physical bodies?
Have they any idea about their beauty?
Has beauty gained in importance facing the awareness that they live in a world without men?
Has the fury of being locked up repress the perception of their own beauty or has beauty
grown to become the most important criteria, that is, being the “most beautiful woman of the prison”.
After some shootings, the first prints were shown to the women.
Looking at their own picture made, several women became very remorseful, in one case, a woman broke out in tears. What they saw and felt was that a photo is a fixed reflection of
themselves. All of them were astonished at the results captured through the eyes of a stranger. Some of them had a lost sense of their beauty which was revived, their attitude towards their own beauty was shaken.
The project marked an antipole towards the dull and monotone time in prison and created all in all a reanimating and quickening mood towards a new self-respect, even though for some it was felt solely during the shooting sessions.
Nevertheless the question remains, that is, was beauty important itself to these women or were they malingering for that instant? This remained a mystery after the shooting to the photographer. Photographie has its bright and shady sides as well.
The project “Bad Ossendorf” captured a very extreme attitude towards beauty either in absolute ignorance of beauty or in emphasise of beauty. Beauty is a very sensitive issue to them.
Their extreme situation “behind bars” polarize the question: “Am I beautiful?” 56 portraits disclose a broad spectrum of very individual attitudes towards beauty .
